Disability Determinations by Impairment

Social Security has over 200 official disability listings, for both mental and physical conditions. If your impairments meet the criteria in one or more of these listings, you'll be found disabled. Most disability applicants, however, don't qualify by meeting the requirements of a listing. Instead, they qualify for disability benefits when Social Security agrees that their limitations are so severe that there are no jobs they can do. The following articles discuss the listing requirements for each illness and how Social Security might evaluate the limitations of an applicant with that medical condition.
