Georgia Child Support Calculator

To use the child support calculator, select or enter the appropriate information next to each statement.

When you have completed the form, click on the calculate button to get an estimate of the amount of child support that the non-custodial parent will have to pay to the custodial parent in Georgia.

Please remember that these calculators are for informational and educational purposes only.  The amount of child support a court will order for any particular case may be different from the amount estimated by the calculator.

For the most part these calculators assume that all of the children will primarily live with one parent.  It is not intended to estimate situations where there is joint physical custody or split custody.

These calculators do not take into account any possible adjustments for children who are not subject to the custody order but who are living with one of the parents.

These factors and others may affect a child support order entered by a court.

Frequently Asked Questions about Georgia Child Support

What agency can help me with child support issues?
The Georgia Department of Human Resources, Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) is available to all state residents for help with matters related to child support, including: establishing child support and medical orders, enforcing child support orders, determining paternity, locating absent parents, and collecting and distributing payments.

How much will my child support order be?
Monthly child support payments are set according to state guidelines that take into account both parents’ income, how many children need support, and the amount of time each parent spends with their child/ren. Both parents share an equal responsibility in providing for the financial needs of their child/ren; each is responsible for a percentage of the appropriate amount listed in the Georgia Schedule of Basic Child Support Obligations. For an estimate of what your monthly child support order will be—whether you live in Savannah, Athens, Macon, Columbus, or Atlanta—check out the child support calculators at www.AllLaw.com.

How is child support collected and distributed?
Child support payments are processed through the Georgia Family Support Registry.

How can I modify a child support order?
A request for a modification review must be requested in writing to your local DCSS office. If there is a significant change in the amount of a previously established child support order based on life circumstances (i.e., loss of employment, new job, new custody arrangement), your child support order will likely be modified.

What can be done to enforce a child support order?
If you are having trouble collecting child support from a non-custodial parent, DCSS can help you enforce court-ordered child support by withholding support from paychecks, intercepting workers compensation benefits and unemployment benefits, reporting delinquent parents to the credit bureaus, revoking licenses (professional and otherwise) and other actions.
